DIMAcast 384

Make Them Happy And Take Their Money . . . that’s what builds profitable, repeat and referral traffic. You make people happy by having fun, creating excitement and exceeding expectations. Nobody seems to have more fun in the imaging world than the team at Horn Photo in Fresno, California. Whether it’s owner Stan Grosz walking down the busy thoroughfare in a clown suit honking a bulbous horn with a sale sign or staff engaging customers on a daily basis . . . Horn Photo always seems to have fun . . . and to them making money is a critical by-product of that fun. Bill McCurry has a light hearted conversation with Stan and Shelly Grosz on serious topics of making money while having fun. Pull up a chair, enjoy the conversation and pick up ideas to make your customers happy so you too can take their money too.

Software developer ArcSoft has been offering imaging technologies to OEMs for many years. It recently developed a free app for mobile phones that lets users try out different looks — and that exposed its facial recognition to a wider audience. Now the company is also branching out into home security. Marketing director Caroline Tien-Spalding also tells us of the work the company is doing in access and management, developing greater imaging intelligence to help us find the specific photos we are looking for.

The rumor was his mug sales were up 700% in December, his mouse pads up 500% - and this is a 20 year old lab, not some tiny start-up. Could this kind of growth be possible? Bill McCurry was in the UK to address a Fuji Retailers Conference as well as the PMA Retail Seminars. Bill grabbed his DIMAcast microphone and snuck into Pete Davies’ studio between a portrait shooting and a commercial account to bring you the unique story. A twenty year old lab goes against “conventional wisdom” to change his business with the mindset of a start-up company. The result is the most profitable December in the lab’s history. Learn from Pete Davies of Marlborough Photo Services how to become and stay relevant to the customer base that will reward you with serious profits.
